Teener hangs self

A teenager killed herself Saturday, adding on more to the series of suicide incidents in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental this year, the police said yesterday.

Jessyl Alimon, 19, was found hanging from a nylon cord by her mother, Joselyn, in their home at Camelot Subdivision, Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod, at about 8 p.m. Saturday, police records show.

She was declared dead on arrival at the Doctor’s Hospital 30 minutes later, police reports said.

Joselyn told police probers that her daughter had left a note on their dining table, apologizing for the problems she had given their family.

The younger Alimon also said in her letter that she loves her family very much, case investigator, PO2 Ronico Despabaladero of Police Station 4, said.

The mother said that before she left for work Saturday morning, Jessyl had complained to her about having head and stomach aches.

Last month, a 50-year-old diabetic hanged himself in Bacolod City while three other males, one a 14-year-old, also killed themselves in the province in February.

Rowena Bañes, a psychologist at the University of St. La Salle, said the public must be sensitive to their family members’ “overwhelming emotions” and try to talk to them.*PP

Personal grudge
eyed in stabbing

The police yesterday said they are eyeing an old grudge as the reason behind the stabbing of a man by a still unidentified person in Bacolod City Friday.

Erwin Bautista, 22, was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after he was attacked with a knife at Villarosa Street, Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod, after midnight Friday, PO3 Jose Roy Militante of Police Station 9, said.

Police Station 9 commander, Inspector Rie Gumban, said that an old grudge may have triggered the incident.

He said they have noted grudges between neighbors along Villarosa Street before the attack on Bautista.

Militante said they have a witness who had seen the stabbing and knew the suspect, but would not say where the man went for safety concerns.*PP
