Four HIV-AIDS teams
helping Negros patients

Negros Occidental has four operational HIV-AIDS Core Teams that manage HIV cases in the province, Provincial Health Officer Luisa Efren said yesterday.

The teams are strategically located province-wide in the Kabankalan District Hospital in Kabankalan City for southern Negros, Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City for northern Negros, Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, she said.

Negros Occidental currently has 16 HIV cases with two recorded deaths last year, she said.

The first case of HIV in the province was reported in 1993, from then on, the program expanded through the creation of a Local AIDS Council for the province and later in the component cities of the province, she said.*
