| A policeman who allegedly kicked the 2-year-old son of a Maranao trader, causing him to lose consciousness, is now wanted by his immediate superiors.
The incident reportedly took place on April 1, at the public plaza of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, and Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, said he advised the parents of the minor to immediately file a complaint.
Franco said the policeman identified as PO1 Alberto Estacion III, has failed to report for duty at the Salvador Benedicto Police Station, since the incident despite his order for him to do so.
Initial police investigations show that Estacion, a resident of Brgy. 5, Moises Padilla, was strolling at the public plaza of La Castellana, and had confronted Samiya Sanguila and his two brothers, both Maranao traders, without provocation.
The La Castellana police quoted Estacion as saying that he was mad at Muslims who allegedly killed his brother.
The 2-year-old son of Sanguila, 23, who happened to pass by, was allegedly kicked by Estacion. The boy lost consciousness, police said.
Franco also ordered Senior Inspector Raymond Maningo, La Castellana police chief, to explain his failure to immediately report the incident to the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
He said Estacion will face charges for his act.
Franco had earlier recommended the dismissal from the service of PO1 Brenold Jarina of the Sagay City Police Station for illegal possession of prohibited drugs in Silay City. He reiterated his warning to all policemen that he will not tolerate abuses and misdemeanors under his command.*GPB
