| A drug suspect was apprehended by Task Force 24 in a buy-bust operation Wednesday for selling suspected shabu and marijuana leaves in Barangay Candau-ay, Dumaguete City.
Apprehended was Eugene Ramirez, 21, of Purok Saging in the barangay and a second year BS Electronics student of the Negros Oriental State University.
Police said Ramirez tried to elude arrest and this resulted in bruises in his knees and arms. He was later arrested by operatives who cordoned the area.
SPO1 Allen June Germudo of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Oriental, a police asset, purchased two matchboxes filled with marijuana leaves at P100 each from the suspect.
Also seized from the possession of Ramirez were two more matchboxes containing dried marijuana leaves and P200 in marked money.
The suspect admitted he was selling marijuana at P100 per matchbox, and that he gets his supplies from Cebu. He, however, refused to identify the supplier.
National Bureau of Investigation agent Nick Tagle said Barangay Candau-ay and part of Barangay Batinguel near the Katrina Subdivision, are now considered the marijuana capital of Dumaguete City.
He said these areas have been placed under close watch by the drugs task force.
Ramirez will be charged for violation of sections 11 and 5, Article 2, of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, the task force also arrested Rictor Ligo, 31, of Barangay Magatas, Sibulan town in a raid Wednesday, at Zone 4 Barangay Looc, Dumaguete.
Ligo was caught possessing two sachets of suspected shabu and he will be charged with violation of section 11 of article 2, of the drugs law.*MA
