Shabu seized
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Policemen yesterday seized about P150,000 worth of shabu from two suspected shabu suppliers, arrested during a buy-bust operation in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, two days after an alleged leader of a local group was also apprehended.

Police Supt. Harold Tuzon yesterday said the arrest of Joselito Bacus and Jimmy Fernandez, who allegedly supplied prohibited drugs in San Carlos City, and Negros Oriental, yielded 25 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value estimated at P150,000.

Initial police investigations showed that Bacus and Fernandez are Cebu-based shabu suppliers.

Tuzon, who is the San Carlos police chief, said their poseur-buyer had negotiated to buy five grams of shabu from the two suspects, and this led to their arrest.

Two days ago, the police also arrested Angelito Duhaylungsod and his live-in partner, Silvia Abella, for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, in Brgy. 4. San Carlos City.

The raid at the house of Duhaylungsod also yielded two grams of shabu and its assorted paraphernalia.

Tuzon said Duhaylungsod tested positive in drug tests, but it was a negative result for Abella.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 are expected to be filed today against the couple before the San Carlos City Prosecutor’s Office.

Tuzon said the supply of shabu being sold by Duhaylungsod also came from Cebu.

Police records also showed that the first drug charge filed against Duhaylungsod was dismissed by the court for a technicality, while he posted bail for illegal possession of drugs charges filed against him, after he was arrested again in Febuary last year.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, yesterday commended the San Carlos police for their intensified anti-drug campaign, that led to the arrest of three drug suspects and the confiscation of 27 grams of shabu.

Mere possession of 10 grams of shabu is a non-bailable offense, police said.*GPB
