Bacoleño swimming standout Kiefer Piccio has been selected to join the Philippine national training pool for posting a string of impressive performances in national competitions.

Piccio’s father, Jake, said Kiefer will train under the program of the Philippine Center for Excellence in Aquatic Sports at the TRACE Aquatic Complex in Los Baños, Laguna.

Kiefer, 14, is expected to transfer from the Bacolod Christian Center of Negros to the TRACE College, where he will enjoy full scholarship.

The camp of Thailand’s Rattanachai Singwangcha Sor Vorapin believes the disparity in age will be a key factor when the Thai challenges Negrense world champion Gerry Peñalosa on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

''At the age of 31, Rattanachai is stronger and fresher than Penalosa who is 34,'' Vorapin’s manager Korkiat Panichayarom said in a story posted on the online edition of Thai newspaper, Bangkok Post.

Triple C sets pace in bowlfest

Triple-C ASSFBI struck 1,070 pinfalls to grab the upper hand in the men’s division, of the ongoing Sharp Phils. 1st Conference Open Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza in Bacolod City.

Condura ASSFBI Ladies is on top in the women’s bracket with a two-round collection of 1,899 balls.

After two rounds of pintoppling action, the Triple – C pinshooters are leading the 15-team pack with 2,036 pinfalls followed byBarangay I ESD with 1,967.
