Suspected rebels
kill militiaman

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Suspected members of the New People’s Army shot dead a former militiaman in Brgy. Canyabaca, Brgy. Pinggot, Ilog, Monday, police yesterday said.

The killing of ex-CAFGU member Dante Abendan, alias Gamay, took place a year after his brother who was also a former militiaman, was summarily executed by rebels in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City

Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Ilog police chief, yesterday said Abendan, who had served as a militiaman for 11 years, was forcibly taken by 10 armed  rebels from their transient quarter in Sitio Canyabaca, Brgy. Pinggot, Ilog.

Abendan and nine other residents of  Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, worked as laborers in a sugarcane plantation in Brgy. Pinggot, Ilog.

Gutierrez said Abendan was shot in the head and left hand by his executioners about 10 meters from their transient quarters.

Ilog police investigators identified a certain Ka Randy as the leader of the group who executed Abendan.

Gutierrez said Abendan was buried yesterday by members of his family in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City.*GPB
