2 rebels nabbed in Sibulan

Two suspected members of the Communist New People's Army were arrested Tuesday afternoon in Sitio Kalukdohan, Barangay Enrique Villanueva in Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

They were identified as Julito Rizaldo Alban alias Ka Budoy, 35, married and a resident of Bohol province, and Benjamin Quimada Edoloverio, 25, single, of Talamban, Cebu.

Lt. Col. Nestor Porlucas, commanding officer of the 79th IB of the Philippine Army, said that his men acted on reports coming from Provincial Police Director S/Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe that there were sighting of armed men in the vicinity of Barangay Enrique Villanueva.

Child abuse raps filed
vs. labor leader, strikers

Police and social welfare authorities filed Tuesday a complaint against a labor leader and several John Does for alleged child abuse and related acts in relation to the participation of many children in the strike over the weekend at the Dumaguete port.

The charge sheet, signed by Laome Quijote, supervisor of the City Social Welfare Office, named as respondents Felizardo Calimpong, district supervisor of the Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines in Dumaguete, and several John Does, to include parents, strikers and other individuals.

"I accept I failed."

Tears rolled down the face of Dumaguete Port Manager Renato Tolinero as he announced the indefinite closure of the Dumaguete port Wednesday, citing unsettled disputes and the need to maintain order within the port premises as the cause.

The Port of Dumaguete, a vital link in President Gloria Macapagal -Arroyo's Strong Republic Nautical Highway, was ordered closed by PPA  General Manager Oscar Sevilla after violence broke out on Saturday  as police were enforcing a Temporary Restraining Order issued of the  National Labor Relations Commission.
