Alleged leader of
drug group nabbed anew
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An alleged leader of a local drug group who was arrested twice for illegal possession of drugs, but released from jail, was again apprehended with his live-in partner, in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on March 31.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Catherine Go, a police team led by Supt. Harold Tuzon and Chief Inspector Victorino Romanillos, assisted by 6th Regional Mobile Group troopers, swooped down on the house of Angelito Duhaylungsod at Caballero Subdivision, Brgy. 4., in San Carlos City, acting on information that a supply of shabu from Cebu was brought in by his live-in partner, Silvia Abella.

Tuzon said the raid yielded about two grams of suspected shabu, four plastic sachets with shabu residue, and assorted drug paraphernalia, and the arrest of Duhaylungsod, 40 and Abella, 31.

Police records show that Duhaylungsod had been arrested twice previously for illegal possession of drugs during the stint of Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz as police chief of San Carlos City.

Tuzon said the first drug charge filed against Duhaylungsod was dismissed by the court for a technicality, while he posted bail for illegal possession of drugs charges filed against him, after he was arrested again in Febuary last year.

He added that the arrest of Duhaylungsod then also yielded 3.5 grams of shabu.

The arrested couple was brought yesterday to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Bacolod City, for drug tests.

De la Paz who is now the provincial police director of Iloilo, said Duhaylungsod is the leader of an organized group engaged in drug peddling activities during his stint as police chief of San Carlos City, in previous years.

Tuzon also said Abella was suspected to have served as courier for Duhaylungsod of shabu being delivered to San Carlos City.

Tuzon also said they have confiscated an estimated 350 board feet of a regulated species of “togas” lumber in Sitio Manga, Brgy, Palampas, San Carlos City.

He said the lumber cut in assorted sizes had been left behind and hidden in the place by still unidentified persons.

Last month, the San Carlos police also seized 1,500 board feet of lumber, 250 sacks of charcoal and 500 bundles of firewood, being transported without permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, police records also showed.*GPB
