| The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros has an ongoing group exhibit at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City entitled “Dagway Sang Babaye” which runs until Saturday, a press release from organizers said.
The show is a tribute to women in celebration of the Women’s Month and is participated in by 40 members of the association led by AAB-Negros president Nunelucio Alvarado.
The AAB, which was founded by Edgardo “Budot” Lizares in 1975, will turn 33 years old on July 4 this year, the press release added.*

National dance congress,
‘Araw ng Sayaw’ slated
The National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, with the Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and the Province of Negros Occidental, will hold the National Dance Congress and Araw ng Sayaw: the Philippine Celebration of the International Dance Day 2008, on April 27- 29, at the CSA-B Gymnasium and Panaad Stadium in Bacolod.
The congress theme is “Festivals: A Celebration of the Filipino Bayanihan” with sub-theme: A Discourse on the Visayan Festivals, a press release from organizers said.
The congress will be participated in by dance educators, choreographers of the local government units, tourism officers and festival organizers
The event coincides with the celebration of Panaad Sa Negros Festival since the focus of the congress is the festivals, the press release said.
The congress will end the Araw ng Sayaw: Philippine Celebration of the International Dance Day, a showcase of Manila-based professional dance groups as well as local groups on April 29, 8 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium.

Donate a book drive on
SM Foundation Inc. will start its Donate A Book 2008 campaign to address the continuing problem of book shortage in public schools and libraries, a press release from the management said.
In Bacolod, those who wish to give their books may drop their donations at a booth at Northwest Bridgeway Lobby of SM City Bacolod. The books will be distributed to different barangays in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.
This campaign has collected more than 2.4 million books nationwide and benefited 10,000 public schools and libraries in areas where SM malls operate.
In cooperation with the Negros Press Club, the donated books collected at SM City Bacolod were distributed to 26 Day Care Centers, 16 elementary schools and 14 high schools in Bacolod last year, the press release said.
The outreach program is among the four areas of advocacy of SM Foundation, Inc. SM Foundation, the press release added.*
