Board member uses funds
for uniforms, medical bills

BY NIDA BUENAFE

Unlike his fellow board members who opted to buy “high-end” vehicles, Negros Occidental Board Member Patrick Lacson of the third district said he will use his P1.5 million allocation from the provincial government to purchase uniforms for barangay officials and for medical assistance to his constituents, his office said yesterday.

Lacson used a portion of the amount to buy uniforms for barangay kagawads, treasurers, Sangguniang Kabataan officers, and tanods and to pay for hospital bills of the indigents in the third district, his office said. It added that the Isuzu Vitara turned over to him by former board member Reynaldo Depasucat is still in good condition and he is using it now.

He also purchased computers that were turned over to Silay City and E.B. Magalona and the offices of the provincial directors of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police, his office said.

Lacson, board member Miller Serondo and Vice Gov. Emilio Yulo III are among those who are not purchasing new vehicles.*NAB
