| Bacolod Councilors Wilson Gamboa Jr. was elected Secretary General and Al Victor Espino, Auditor for Visayas, for Highly Urbanized Component Cities, during the Philippines Councilors League national congress held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from March 28 to 30.
Elected PCL national president was Councilor Michael Fernandez of Dagupan City, a press release from the group said.
The proclamation of the newly elected PCL national officers by Senate President Manuel Villar, one of the keynote speakers, together with Interior and Local Government director Rolando Acosta, was held during the closing ceremony Saturday.
Undersecretary for Local Governments Austere Panadero was keynote speaker during the opening ceremony, together with Presidential Adviser Norberto Gonzales and Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, the press release also said.
Among the guests of honor in the three-day congress were Pasay Mayor Peewee Trinidad, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Director Gen. Avelino Razon- Office of the Chief PNP, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, and Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando.
The PCL Negros Occidental Chapter headed by Councilor Raul Rivera of Kabankalan City had the biggest delegation to the congress that was attended by about 7,000 delegates from all over the country.
The local government of Bacolod City was represented by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Catalino Alisbo, Napoleon Cordova, Dindo Ramos, Roberto Rojas, Kevin Ramos, Homer Bais, Alex Paglumotan and Diosdado Valenzuela.*
