Dumaguete Councilor Mauel Sagarbarria was elected Island Vice Chairman to represent the Visayas Region in the National Board of the Philippine Councilors League, during the National Convention of the Philippine Coucilors League, Saturday, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The regional group of the Provincial Councilors League comprises Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu City ad Cebu province. The Regional Group of the Philippine Councilors League nominated Sagarbarria for the position.

Sagarbarria was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the group. 

About 1,100 councilors from the Visayas Region, 153 from the province of Negros Oriental and seven councilors from Dumaguete attended the convention.

Sagarbarria is currently the president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and chairman of the different committees of the Sangguniang Panlungsod like the Finance and Appropriation, Entrepreneur and Tourism.*RG
