Bacolod City marked the National Disability Week recently
with the Christian Foundation for Persons with Disability spearheading the activities,
which included a cultural program, an abacus competition and a Braille reading
and writing contest.
The highlights also included the family program, a
photo exhibit, cataract check-ups a free trial on a massage chair for those who
wanted to try the services of disabled persons trained on Swedish massage.
Formerly
known as the Christian Foundation for the Deaf and Blind, the CFPD is committed
to reach out to the community by providing services to differently-abled persons.
It hopes to educate, train and empower persons with disability through community
involvement and support and sees to it that persons with disability enjoy full
participation and access to available resources.
Most of the activities
were held at SM City Bacolod. Meanwhile, SM City disclosed that the Mall of Asia
was cited as the "Most Disabled Friendly Mall Award for 2007, in a ceremony held
to highlight the National Disability Week celebration. The award was presented
July 17 at the Heroes Hall of Malacaņang Palace.
