Give young photojournalists an hour early in the day to
scout for human interest scenes and capture them in their digital cameras and
you see a variety of photos, mostly sidewalk scenes about early morning life in
the city. They could be anywhere in the country-the scenes, situations and the
colors.
The scenes on this page were taken in Iloilo City Wednesday this
week. The visual artists were college photojournalists who took the pictures as
part of the workshop annually conducted by the Philippine Information Agency.
As the photojournalists later said, taking photos that appeal to viewers'
emotions may appear an easy thing but what's really important and mentally intensive
for the photojournalist is to find a compelling moment, the one that has the best
story to tell, and capture it for posterity. Indeed, it makes our day, both for
the viewer and the 'shotmaker'.
