For the St. La Salle Arts and Sciences first
year students, campus life was completely started not only on the first day of
classes but also when they participated in CASadyahan Night, the Freshmen program
held June 22 at the USLS Covered Court.
The program offered
an all-packed Las Vegas tilts of ramp modeling and character presentations, rolled
into one glittering night of fashion, sounds and movement. The motif of the night,
inspired by past celebrations which included CAS Comedy Bar, CAS Cable, CAS Café
and CAS Idol, exploited the bright-light and action-packed characteristic of the
Nevada City as College Council officials called this year's production as "CAS
Vegas: The Night Life!"
As the theme suggested poise and drama,
Artians and their guests made the best of what was available in their cabinets
and closets - from glittering tops to sliding sexy cuts, from stripes to plain
long and short sleeves combined with black shoes, white pants, big belts and torpedo
hats or to any sense one could has been noticed, turned to, and, captured.
CAS
clubs, teachers, attendees and the celebrating freshmen wore their Las Vegas-inspired
outfits. Luck ran the best dressed as the CAS Vegas' Fashionista of the night.
As the runway platforms were cat-walked by CAS City models in
their high heeled shoes, the lights were magnified by ABS-CBN's School Patrol
coverage of the event, hosted by Lianne Fernandez and Gynon Mapa, named Mr. and
Ms. CAS Freshmen. The coverage prompted Artians to show off their looks most of
the time, since no one knew when and where the camera would hit and roll.
The
night showcased Missy Eliot with the Artians Cheerdance Squad, Golden Voice Champions
Hadassa and Johann, and Dance Sport royalties Cherry and John. The freshmen walked
their best in CAS Vegas fashion collection and others models wore Nicolo Yulo
Vegas-inspired set. The four-feet ramp stage was heated by special performances
from Jennifer Lopez, Michael Bubble, Shakira, and Ricky Martin. CAS Vegas Ultimate
Performer of the night, the Destiny's Child, survived what is seemed like never
ending cheers and camera clicks.
The CASadyahan Night has etched
significance in every Artian freshmen, and this year, there's more to it than
etching significant memories alone. There were spices and more spices that's worth
the watch and outfit match. But, for the first year students, one thing was most
certain: It was their one grand night.
