More than 1,000  members of Overseas Filipino Workers' families in Negros attended the OFW Family Day held in December  at SM City in Bacolod City . The gathering was sponsored by SM City and the Overseas Workers' Welfare Administration in Western Visayas .

OWWA officers in the region, led by OIC James Mendiola, with their Bacolod Office staff, supervised the celebration, which featured various activities. Other OWWA officers and personnel from Iloilo were Marne Halanes, Mae Marques, Conie Binarao, Allen Arroyo and Sarah Togonon, said Bacolod officers Lorie Mabayag and Jeanelyn Oyco, family welfare officers.

The activities included  distribution of gifts, games, videoke singing competition, a raffle draw and a variety show featuring comedienne Candy Pangilinan.

The organizers also offered free lunch to the first 700 members who came to the celebration.
