The season of celebrations continues in this part of the country. At St. La Salle, they just held a testimonial dinner for passers in the licensure exam for Chemical engineers and Electronics and communications Engineers.

They have more reason to celebrate as two of the USLS board takers landed in the Top 10 of their respective examinations. For the second year in a row, a St. Lasallian ranked No.1 in a licensure board examination. Orville Parreño, a Chemical Engineering graduate, duplicated the feat of Accountancy alumnus, Brian Lim, last year.

Both engineers are sharing with StarLife readers the challenges they encountered on their not-so-easy road to success.

The celebration of the Architecture Week ended yesterday at SM City, where exhibits showcased the exciting capabilities and possible lifestyles that architects and Architecture students can help promote. Our center spread feature includes some of the highlights of the celebration.

Across the continent, another celebration will take place tomorrow, when the Nobel Prize Day will be held in Sweden . The biggest international recognition honors sterling accomplishments in various fields of endeavor, including Physics, Chemistry, Medicine and Literature as well as on peace and Economics. The annual competition was established in the will of Alfred Nobel in 1895 and instituted by the Swedish Central Bank in 1968.

Our calendar this week also includes the pop and dance sports competition of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Educational and Cultural Association which will be held tomorrow along with the Miss Teen NOPSSCEA competition.

For nature lovers, another attraction has opened at Mambukal Resort. The Butterfly Garden provides visitors with a close-up look at the life and other details related to these colorful flitting creatures which are vital links in biodiversity.

StarLife will conclude the two-part feature on Bali next week, in time with the closing of the United Nations-organized Climate Change conference in that exotic Indonesian island-resort.
