Negros
settles for third ILOILO CITY --- With a strong showing in swimming, a lean but mean Negros Occidental contingent pulled off a third place finish at the close of the Philippine Olympic Festival Visayas Qualifiers here yesterday. Negros bagged a total of 47 golds, all of which came from swimming events (see related story), 29 silvers and 15 bronzes, while Bacolod City, which also sent lesser athletes compared to eventual champion Iloilo Province and Iloilo City, came in sixth with a 7-1-0 haul. IP registered an 89-90-71 output, followed by Iloilo
City (60-55-47). Capiz, which dominated athletics, was fourth with a
