| An essay writing contest on a play entitled “Passion … it's a dying thing” for high school and college students will be held Nov. 7, at Garden Royale, Goldenfield Commercial Complex, in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.
The play will be staged on the same day by a 19-man Bible-based performance arts ministry called “Messengers,” from the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Dr. John Piper in the United States .
After watching the play, contestants will be given one hour to write their essays. The top three entries each in the high school and college levels will receive cash prizes and trophies, the press release said.

Visayas wins beer
drinking competition
The Sipsipin Mo Boys from Visayas were declared champions in the San Miguel Beer national beer drinking contest held recently at the MEPZA football field in Mandaue City , Cebu , a press release from organizers said.
The group composed of Kenneth Morales, Richard Demigilio, Greg Jevelosa, Jic Catungal, and Raffy Briones, took home P500,000 in cash by recording 43.5 seconds.
Winning the second and third places were the Lunod Team of Greater Manila North Area with 52.4 seconds and St. Richard Drinkers-Central and Northern Luzon (53.9 seconds) and bagged P200,000 and P100,000, respectively.
Teams of five individuals from Mindanao, Greater Manila Area North, Central Luzon, North Luzon, Visayas, Greater Manila Area-South and South Luzon showed their drinking prowess before thousands of Cebuanos who attended the event, held in line with the San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest finale, the press release said.
The relay-type contest, now on its sixth year, gauged how quick each member of the team downed a bottle of San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen 320ml with overall clocking subject to penalties due to spillages and leftover, the press release added.*
