Winners proclaimed

At least 19 out of 30 barangay captains elected into office in Dumaguete City on Monday are neophytes, Commission on Elections officer-in-charge Carmencita Cañares disclosed yesterday.

The Comelec released the partial official lists of the winners yesterday, for the Punong Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan chairmen.

The new elected barangay captains are: Raul Aguilar – Poblacion 1, George Ponce de Leon - Pob. 4, Dominique Ablir - Pob. 5, Bernardo Sun, Jr. - Pob. 6, Gaudencio Sisneros - Brgy Bagacay, Teodoro Albina - Bajumpandan, Lionel Banogon - Buñao, Jaime Maquiling Jr. - Banilad, Nicolas Ramirez - Batinguel, Gilieta Binondo - Cadawinonan, Bartolome Aranas - Camanjac, Danilo Alcancia - Candau-ay, Rogelio Siglos - Daro, Jose Bana - Junob, Rogelio Talavera - Looc, Ricardo Valencia - Mangnao, Melito Caldamo - Tabuctubig, Gregorio Suasin Jr. - Taclobo, and Osias Pino Talay.

Those re-elected are Elesio Merced (Pob. 2), Jose Victor Imbo (Pob.3), Louise Maputi (Pob.7), Raul Infante (Pob.8), Nicolas Buling (Balugo), Albert Aquino (Bantayan), Antonio Cariño (Calindagan), Alejandra Sanchez (Cantil-e), and Jose Quitay (Piapi).

As of press time yesterday, only barangays Pulangtubig and Motong have incomplete election returns, Cañares said.

Meanwhile, the Comelec said the Sangguniang Kabataan election was also conducted peacefully.

SK chairmen will sit as members of their respective barangay councils, and will choose among themselves their representatives to the city council.

Elected SK chairman were Allen Ray Dequito (Pob.1), April Dawn Olpos (Pob. 2), Ring Beniza Sy (Pob 3), William Fleischer (Pob 4), George Michael Genove (Pob. 6), Marian Adanza (Pob. 7), Micah Patricia Manaquil (Pob. 8), Jewel Joan Lao (Bagacay), Marvin Jones Mequel (Bajumpandan), Jason Baro (Balugo), Raymund Jerome Cortez (Banilad), Ayne Jane Paracueles (Bantayan), Marie Sinead Jane Tia (Batinguel), Darwin Suarez ( Cadawinonan), Miller Jun Diez (Camanjac), L. Atheena Duran (Candao-ay), Mohamed Mahyen (Cantil-e), Francis Lazalita (Daro), Jason Ebrole (Junob), Ryan Sales (Looc), Jocelyn Abelgas (Mangnao), Humphrey Balbon (Piapi), Lowel Paul Badon (TabucTubig), Carlo Anthony Medina (Taclobo), and Rhenwin Dela Cruz (Talay).*RG
