A barangay captain who was jailed on election day in Murcia town won his bid for re-election, but the police are poised to file charges against him for attempted and frustrated murder, Inspector Arnold Mesias, Murcia OIC police chief, said yesterday.

Mesias said attempted murder charges will be filed against Barangay Captain Leandro de la Torre of Barangay Pandanon Silos, Murcia , based on a complaint filed by Kagawad Jose Magsico.

Frustrated murder charges will also be filed for the wounding of Mary Ann Tabujara Marañon, 46, of Barangay Tangub, Bacolod , who was hit by a stray bullet. moremoremore

One killed,
57 injured in mishaps

A tricycle driver was killed, while at least 57 others were injured in two road accidents in Isabela, Negros Occidental, yesterday, police said.

The police also reported yesterday that 141 persons have been killed, and 756 injured in more than 700 vehicular accidents in Negros Occidental, from January to September this year.

Senior Inspector Virgilio de la Cruz, Isabela police chief, yesterday identified the fatality in yesterday's mishap as Wilfredo Euroba. moremoremore
