for granny's slay
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The police filed parricide charges Friday against a 28-year-old farmer who mauled and choked his grandmother to death in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Oct. 1.

Joel Sari, who is detained at the San Sarlos City police jail, is facing charges before the San Carlos City Prosecutor's Office.

Sari killed his 65-year-old grandmother, Matilde Villarin, while allegedly possessed by an "evil spirit" at their residence in Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, police investigations showed.

On the other hand, complaints of murder and frustrated murder are also being readied by the police against Salvador Padios and his two companions, for the shooting spree in Brgy. Alicante, E.B. Magalona, Thursday that claimed the life of a minor and injured two others.

Padios was arrested by the police inside a sugarcane field at the boundary of Brgys. Manta-angan and Alicante in E.B. Magalona, 15 minutes after the shooting incident.

Killed was Kristel Althea Villanueva,3, while injured were Krissa Villanueva,16, and Louie Subal,13.

Padios and his companion identified as Roderick Siasico, who was later turned over to the E.B. Magalona police by a barangay kagawad, are now in jail.

Another companion of Padios identified as Jorey Bulanon was at-large as of press time.*GPB
