IN SAN CARLOS
Firearms seized
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Police confiscated a cache of firearms and ammunition in a raid at the residence of a gunsmith in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City , Negros Occidental, Friday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Catherine Go, a police team led by Supt. Harold Tuzon swooped down on the house of Rolando Pilapil, alias Oktoy, in Sitio Malindog, Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City .

Tuzon said the raid yielded four homemade 12-gauge shotguns, a 357 caliber magnum revolver, a .22 caliber rifle, ammunition for firearms of various calibers, and assorted tools used in the manufacturing of homemade guns.

Pilapil, however, managed to escape, he added.

Police investigations show that Pilapil engaged in the manufacture of homemade guns and selling them to residents in the far-flung barangays of San Carlos City .

Tuzon said the raid was a product of more than a month of intelligence monitoring on the activities of Pilapil, who remains at-large.

Charges for violation of RA 8294, or illegal possession of firearms, are expected to be filed today against Pilapil before the City Prosecutor's Office of San Carlos.*GPB
