Man tagged in rape
of daughter nabbed
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Police arrested yesterday a man who allegedly made his 17-year-old deaf-mute daughter a sex slave for three years in Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, yesterday said Ramonito Vicente, 57, was apprehended by SPO1 William Sablaon and PO1 Franklin Panilan at his residence in Brgy. 2 poblacion, Kabankalan City , by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Henry Arles.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld, had been repeatedly raped by her father since she was 13 years old, and recently gave birth to a baby, Mabugat said.

Police investigations also showed that Vicente is also the grandfather of the girl because he had also raped the teenager's mother, his daughter, before.

Mabugat said the suspect was denied bail by Arles , and is now detained at the police jail of Kabankalan City .

Police also arrested another rape suspect in Brgy. San Pedro, Binalbagan on Nov. 8.

Senior Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, Binalbagan police chief, yesterday identified the suspect as Jose Tingson Rama, 44, for whom a warrant of arrest for two counts of rape, and two more counts for violation of RA 7610, known as the Child Abuse Act, was signed by Valenzuela City Judge Floro Alejo.

Resuma said Rama who was nabbed by a joint team of La Castellana and Binalbagan police, was also denied bail by Alejo for two counts of rape.*GPB
