| The mother of a six-month-old baby girl who died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital while being treated for diaphragmatic hernia, yesterday filed complaints against the hospital at the National Bureau of Investigation.
Jocelyn Perlas, accompanied by reporters from Bombo Radyo, submitted documents to the NBI supporting her claims that neglect on the part of CLMMRH's staff led to the death of her baby.
Perlas' employer, Heide Zaldevia, said she knew Perlas went to the media after her baby died and the mother also told her that she will file complaints against the CLMMRH.
She said the baby was first treated at St. Anne's Hospital in Cadiz City and later transferred to Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital .
When the baby's condition did not improve, Perlas decided to bring her to the CLMMRH, Zaldevia said.
Reports said the hospital's staff failed to replenish the oxygen attached to the baby after it was used up.
Perlas called the attention of the nurses at the station about the depleted oxygen but she was allegedly given a breathing bag to use on her baby and was told to wait until the oxygen replenishment arrives, reports said.
However, hours passed and no oxygen tank arrived until the baby died, the report added.
Dr. Epifania Simbul said she will immediately ask about the incident from the hospital staff, as it occurred during the administration of Dr. Jaime Bernadas as hospital chief.
Bernadas is now stationed in Cagayan although he remains a consultant for CLLMRH.*NAB
