Guv seeking fund help
for legislative building

Gov. Emilio Macias II said yesterday he will ask for the financial assistance promised by Senator Edgardo Angara during his short visit to Negros Oriental recently.

The province needs about P5 million to complete the legislative building, and Macias hopes to inaugurate the building in the first quarter of next year, Capitol sources said.

Macias said that, aside from Angara 's assistance, the province will also ask for help from Reps. George Arnaiz, Henry Pryde Teves and Jocelyn Limkaichong.

Organic agri fair opens

Organically grown products are being displayed in a Visayas Sustainable Organic Agriculture Fair that opened yesterday and will run until tomorrow at the Quezon Park , in Dumaguete City .

The Sibol ng Agham at Teknolohiya, a non-government organization promoting and developing appropriate technology is one of the lead convenors of the event featuring organized farmers using organic means for their produce such as vegetables and fruits, rice and corn, and organically processed foods.

This initiative is supported by the Negros Oriental and city governments.

Nutri programs workshop set

The success of the nutrition program in Negros Oriental will be spotlighted in the 2007 Program Implementation Review workshop in Region 7, event organizers said yesterday.

The province will host the PIR Workshop held annually by the National Nutrition Council in Central Visayas on November 28-29.

The national council holds the workshop every year to review nutrition programs implemented by the local government units in the region.
