| The 2007 Pinoy Media Congress dubbed “3-in-1 in Silliman” which opens tomorrow and will end Friday is expected to draw about 300 media top-brass, communication educators and mass communication students in Silliman University, Dumaguete City, a press release from SU said yesterday.
The event on this year's theme “Media Policy Regulation, Ethics and Practice” is organized by the Philippine Association of Communication Educators and co-sponsored by ABS-CBN Corp.
It is aimed to continue as a venue for interaction among media experts, teachers and students of communication towards the improvement of media content, practice and policy.
Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and former Environment Secretary Angel Alcala will deliver the opening remarks at the PACE National Conference.
Speakers in the first PACE Echo Seminar Series are ABS-CBN chief executive officer Eugenio Lopez III, news and current affairs head Maria Ressa, Gina Lopez, creative writer Ricky Lee, Optical Media Board chairman Edu Manzano, vice president of IBC-13 Bob del Rosario, and Agerico Arias of NBN-4, the press release said.
Issues and topics about communication, broadcasting, journalism and allied disciplines and current and relevant information in the field will be provided to students and teachers.
Other speakers are Asian Media Information Center Singapore Research Director Kalinga Seneviratne, former Director of SU School of Communication and author Dr. Crispin Maslog, and environmental journalist Ma. Diosa Labiste, the press release said.
PACE is an organization of mass communication teachers and institutions that offer degrees in communication arts, advertising, broadcasting, journalism, and communication research. Silliman is one of its founding institutional members, the press release added.*
