The Senate passed the Senate Bill 1658, or the Quality Affordable Medicines Act of 2007, Senator Manuel Roxas II said in a press statement yesterday.
Roxas said he commends his colleagues for their immediate action to pass the bill on third and final reading.
Now we await the House of Representatives to pass their version, so we can immediately convene a bicameral conference committee hearing, Roxas, the bill's primary author, said.

‘Step up watch for
substandard X'mas products'
A senator has urged the Department of Trade and Industry to step up its monitoring of sub-standard products sold as Christmas bargains.
It is not sufficient for the DTI to merely instruct the public not to patronize products that do not bear the Philippine Standard or the Import Commodity Clearance marks, Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. said in a press release.
PS and ICC marks are stamped on products such as Christmas lights, home appliances, LPG cylinders, electrical and electronic devices, wires and cables, fire extinguishers, safety matches and lighters to make it easier for buyers to determine safe and reliable goods.
