Negros PNP No. 1 in WV
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office topped the performance evaluation rating among six provincial police offices in Western Visayas , in the third quarter of 2007, police records show.

On the other hand, the Bacolod police office was outclassed by the Iloilo police in the city police category.

In the provincial police office category, the Aklan Police Provincial Office ranked second, Iloilo Provincial Police Office – third, Capiz Police Provincial Office – fourth and Guimaras Police Provincial Office – fifth.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, yesterday said he expected NOPPO to top the performance evaluation rating, because of the close working relationship between NOPPO personnel and the community.

Police units in Western Visayas are rated every quarter of the year on community relations, operations and intelligence work, and on management of manpower and logistics.

Meanwhile, Senior Supt. Modesto Sanson is expected to be replaced today as Guimaras police director, after he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 yesterday.

Sanson had been the city police chief of Bago, Sagay and Victorias in Negros Occidental, prior to his appointment as Guimaras police director in November last year.

Among the candidates vying for the position vacated by Sanson are Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, Senior Supt. Vicente Alloro and Senior Supt. Leo Puertollano.*GPB
