The National Food Authority has granted the Bayawan Multi-Purpose Agricultural Kilusang Bayan in Bayawan City , Negros Oriental with a Biomass-Fed Furnace, a dryer for palay and corn, the NFA said yesterday.

It will be the third farmers' cooperative in the country to receive and own a crop dryer worth P500,000, given through the Corn Development Fund of the NFA, information officer of the grains agency, Rolando Lazalita, said.

The dryer will be retrofit by a fabricator in Bukidnon to suit the existing rice mill of BMAKB, Lazalita added.

The cooperative was chosen as recipient for having a good standing. In the past years, BMAKB has been recommended by NFA for the outstanding farm cooperative award.*RG
