Lopue's prevails, seizes early lead
BY CEDELF TUPAS

Pre-tournament favorite Batch 1999-2000 Lopue's secured its third straight victory, following a 101-85 conquest of Batch 1994-1995 Copix One Wednesday night in the St. John's Institute Alumni Basketball Tournament at the SJI Activity Center in Bacolod City .

Fielding a complete and formidable 15-man line-up, the Lopue's cagers proved too much for a shorthanded Copix One quintet.

Rhett Demonteverde fired three straight triples as Lopue's went beyond recall in the fourth quarter. Complementing Demonteverde's hot shooting was former varsity star Paolo Li, who chalked in 23 points.

David Lacson and Rony Uytiepo added 12 and 11, respectively for Lopue's, which leads Bracket A with a 3-0 card.

Copix One was led by Michael Ang with 26 points, Chris Castro with 17, Alex Fernandez with 14 and Garret Tabanao with 10.

Copix One dropped to 1-1, the same record with 97-98 Foodman and 91-92 Marby, while 86-88 Boston Finance is at 0-1. 96 Batch 1996 Mushu is at 0-2.

Queen of Peace Parish shares the Bracket B lead with 05-06 Kobe at 2-0. In solo third is 1993 Imay's with a 1-0 card, followed by 2007 Falcons (1-1), 03-04 Ongsingco's (0-1), and 01-02 HardyCom (0-2). *CPT
