| No untoward incidents were reported to the police, and peace and order was not adversely affected in Negros Oriental, before and after the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections held on Oct. 29, police provincial director, Senior Supt. Melvin Buenafe, said yesterday.
Buenafe attributed the peaceful conduct of the elections to the cooperation of the people, preparedness of the Commission on Elections officials, and the vigilance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police troops.
He also lauded the support of those who disseminated vital information to the public.
Negros Oriental, which was identified as the most peaceful province in Region 7 or Central Visayas during the May polls, received an augmentation of about three platoons of policemen from the PNP regional command, who manned various polling precincts and election areas of immediate concern.*MA
