A police officer is now under investigation for allegedly robbing a farmer of money for his sick mother-in-law in Bacolod City yesterday morning.

PO1 Frankie Alojado was ordered restricted to Police Station 1 a few hours after Alex Bautista identified him as the law enforcer who allegedly took his P65,000, Bacolod City police director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, said.

Alojado, who is assigned at Police Station 7, denied the accusation and added that he was with his family in Isabela town during the incident. moremoremore

SC fines judge
for vulgarity

The Supreme Court in a recent en banc resolution found a Bacolod Regional Trial Court judge guilty of “vulgar and unbecoming conduct” and fined him P5,000, with a warning that a repetition of a similar offense in the future will be dealt with more severely.

The en banc resolution promulgated Oct. 19 was based on complaints filed by lawyers Rowena Guanzon and Pearl Montesino of the Gender Watch Coalition, former Assistant City Prosecutor Rosanna Saril-Toledano and lawyer Erfe del Castillo Caldit against Judge Anastacio Rufon of Bacolod RTC Branch 52. moremoremore

Church dismayed
by SP okay of STL

The Catholic Church yesterday expressed its dismay over the passage of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod resolution favorably endorsing the operation of Small Time Lottery in Bacolod City .

The SP approved Wednesday a resolution favorably endorsing the operation of STL in the city subject to six conditions.

Those who voted in favor were Councilors Dindo Ramos, Al Victor Espino, Roberto Rojas, Alex Paglumotan and Arturo Parreño. While Councilors Celia Flor, Reynold Iledan, Catalino Alisbo, Homer Bais and Greg Gasataya voted against it, and only Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. abstained. moremoremore
