Firms can now process
business permits for '08

The Permits and Licensing Division of Bacolod City is now starting to distribute business permits application forms for 2008 to allow establishments in the city to process their documents early.

“The early issuance of business application forms will enable business establishments to obtain advance clearances from concerned departments/offices, thus reducing processing time in January,” Permits and Licensing Officer Ardis Jaculina said.

Clearances may be obtained in advance from the following department/offices: City Health Office, for sanitary permit and health cards; City Planning and Developing Office, for zoning clearance; City Veterinarian Office, for pork and meat and other poultry products;

ATO hiring 300
air traffic controllers

The Air Transportation Office will hire 300 traffic controllers more to meet the needed personnel for the country's increasing airline traffic.

“As of now, the transportation sector is booming with the opening to international and regional flights of airports such as the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport , the Davao , Laoag and Cebu-Mactan International Airport , besides the Manila International Airport ,” ATO said in a government press release.

It is also putting up a central tower at Tagbilaran Airport in Bohol , and also upgrading new airports like the Bacolod-Silay.

RP food makers earn
$36.6M in German fair

Top Filipino food manufacturers for locally processed agricultural products generated $36.62 million in sales during the recent international food fair in Germany from its only $24 million earnings in the same event two years ago, the Department of Agriculture said in a report.

Earnings of Philippine exhibitors in this year's Anuga 2007 held in Koln Messe, Germany is 83 percent higher than the $20 million target revenue.

The country's participation in the Anuga food trade show is among the activities being carried out by the DA Export Development Team to help boost Philippine agri-exports.
