Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said an assessment of some key personnel and an inventory of the city will be made before the new set of officials elected recently assume their office for the next term.

Leonardia said all these efforts will be geared towards strengthening their management team. He said they also want to be goal-oriented.

This means they are going to set their objectives and identify who are the people to be responsible for them and to be accountable for the accomplishment of a particular assignment, Leonardia said.

He said the projects on the government center, the slaughterhouse, and other infrastructures, are things they had promised the people through their platform of government and will be continued in the next administration.

Leonardia said his immediate wish concerns the road connecting Las Palmas and Doņa Juliana in Taculing to the Circumferential Road. He said he has already asked the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod to give him authority to sign the contract of sale with the owner of the lot. The matter is still pending with the SP, he said. Leonardia said he hopes the SP will grant him the authority the soonest possible time so the project could be implemented right away.

Meanwhile, Leonardia said his administration has added six traffic lights to the six others that have been existing since the early 1980's or 1990's in Bacolod. With the three additional years given them, he said, additional traffic lights will be installed in the city.

"As soon as our budget increases next year, our people may also expect more projects from the city government," Leonardia said.

He also said the city will put up additional water pumps in the barangays and this will continue to be a priority of his administration.*CGS
