Intel operative slain in ambush

Another military intelligence operative was killed, while his daughter survived an ambush allegedly perpetrated by New People's Army rebels in Brgy. Bagtic, La Libertad, Oriental Negros, during the weekend.

Air Force Sgt. Jonimar Emperado was the third military intelligence operative who died in an ambush and assassination activities of the New People's Army in Negros island since last year, military records show.

Emperado who sustained bullet wounds in the head died while his 9-year-old daughter survived, but had a minor wound in her left knee.

Teacher deployment manageable

The Department of Education in Oriental Negros reported that teacher deployment in public secondary schools in the province is manageable, while that in public elementary schools is within the national mean ratio.

Of the total public secondary schools under DepEd-NegOr, some 36.11 percent are recorded to have severe teacher shortage. Those classified as within manageable ratio account for 25 percent; moderate teacher shortage, 11 percent; and excessive surplus teacher provision and generous teacher provision each with 8.3 percent. For public elementary schools, majority fall under the national mean ratio bracket while schools with severe teacher shortage only account for 9.73 percent.

DOST launches
educational software

The Department of Science and Technology and the Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alexandria launched Monday the DOST Educational Software and IT products, at COSCA Hall, in Dumaguete City.

It was presented by a team from the Advance Science and Technology Institute, a branch of the DOST handling software products.

Around 50 participants from the Department of Education, IT developers and private entities interested in software products were present.
