Guv fine, Zayco says

Negros Occidental Acting Gov. Isidro Zayco last night denied text messages circulating that Gov. Joseph Maraņon is dying at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City.

The vice governor said he spoke to the governor yesterday and he was all right.

In fact the governor is expected back in Negros on Sunday, he said.

That text messages are probably just part of the rumor-mongering that comes with the political season, he said.

The governor had just gone to Manila for a regular check up and to rest after the campaign leading to the May 14 polls, he said.

Maraņon was proclaimed the winning governor in absentia on April 18 as he had left for Manila by the time the provincial count was completed.*CPG
