City congressman Monico Puentevella has been named chief of mission to the 24th
Southeast Games to be held in Thailand late this year. A report posted
at the GMA website yesterday said the Philippine Olympic Committee executive board
appointed Puentevella as the head of the RP delegation to the Thailand Games.
To act as one of Puentevella's deputies is Commissioner Ricardo Garcia of the
Philippine Sports Commission, the report said. Puentevella is the POC
first vice president and head of the Wrestling Association of the Philippines.
With the games to be held at three separate venues, the RP delegation
will need at least two deputies aside from Puentevella. Initial list of
athletes who passed the criteria for the Thailand Games have already been submitted
to the POC executive board by the joint POC-PSC SEAG Task Force, the report said.
The task force co-chairmen are Garcia and Philippine Wushu Association president
Julian Camacho. A SEAG Federation Council meeting will be held on June
3-4 in Thailand to decide on what events will be played in the Thailand SEAG.
