2 women drown in Malogos
BY GILBERT BAYROAN

Two more women were added Sunday to the list of those who have drowned at the Malogo River, which is described by some residents as a "mariit (creepy)" place, in Brgy. E. Lopez, Silay City, police said.

The drowning victims were identified by the police as Eva Prinsesa Tagumaya, 32, and Kristine Pa-ala, 16, both residents of Brgy. Lantad, Silay City.

Police investigations show that the two were having fun and swimming in a deep portion of the river, before they drowned at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Silay police chief Calixto Mabugat said the bodies of the two victims were fished out of the water two hours later by rescuers, who encountered difficulties in retrieving them.

Mabugat said he received reports that several persons had also drowned in the place, where Tagumaya and Pa-ala also lost their lives.*GPB
