Palawan solon to
attend clan reunion

Reelectionist Rep. Antonio Alvarez of the first district of Palawan may attend the May 26 reunion of the Graciano Lopez Jaena clan, at Santa Teresita Academy, Silay City, Negros Occidental, a press release from organizers said quoting Alvarez's spouse, Melanie Espina-Alvarez. Melanie is the daughter of the late Dr. Doroteo Espina, younger brother of Rolly Espina and both are grand nephews of Graciano with their grandfather Doroteo, the youngest brother of the Ilonggo national hero, the press release said.

Virgilio and Jess Lopez, the main organizers of the clan reunion, said they expect some 250 family members to attend the "know your cousins" affair on May 26, the press release said. It also said that there has been a noticeable increase in the number of family members who had been attending the planning sessions held at the Pearl Manor, in Bacolod City, every Saturday.

These include the families of the Santa Anas, the Holleros, the Golezes and the Ledesmas as well as the Gayatins and the Tordesillas.

The Hofileņas of Silay and Iloilo, may also attend the affair.

The theme of the gathering is "One family, one legacy" which, R. Conlu, the main proponent of the theme, said aims to infuse among Lopez Jaena's descendants the awareness that they have a commitment to democracy and freedom.*
