leading senate bets thank Negros, Bacolod

candidates Francis "Chiz" Escudero (GO), Loren Legarda (GO), Miguel Zubiri (TU)
and Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III (GO) yesterday thanked Bacoleņos and Negrenses
for voting them into the top slots in the Senate race in Bacolod and Negros Occidental,
and vowed to reciprocate this by fulfilling their campaign promises.
In Bacolod City, Escudero was in the number one slot while in the Negros Occidental
tally covering 31 towns and cities he was in number three.
Legarda was number one in Negros Occidental and in fourth place in the Bacolod
count.

2 women drown in Malogos

more women were added Sunday to the list of those who have drowned at the Malogo
River, which is described by some residents as a "mariit (creepy)" place, in Brgy.
E. Lopez, Silay City, police said.
The drowning victims were identified by the police as Eva Prinsesa Tagumaya, 32,
and Kristine Pa-ala, 16, both residents of Brgy. Lantad, Silay City.
Police investigations show that the two were having fun and swimming in a deep
portion of the river, before they drowned at about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Silay police
chief Calixto Mabugat said the bodies of the two victims were fished out of the
water two hours later by rescuers, who encountered difficulties in retrieving
them.    |
Bing: Results of elections validation of performance BY

believe the results of the election is a validation of the performance of our
group, and especially of our government center project," reelected Bacolod Mayor
Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.
He said this is the first time in so many decades that a party was elected with
a very clear majority.
Leonardia, vice mayor-elect Jude Thaddeus Sayson and eight of their councilors
under the Grupo Progreso of the Nationalist People's Coalition, were proclaimed
winners Saturday by the Commission on Elections. The councilors are Greg Gasataya,
Homer Bais, Dindo Ramos, Wilson Gamboa Jr., Napoleon Cordova, Al Victor Espino,
Roberto Rojas and Alex Paglumotan.
