candidates proclaimed

Local candidates who ran unopposed were proclaimed Thursday by the officer-in-charge of the Commission on Elections in Oriental Negros.

Proclaimed were Vice Gov. Jose Petit Baldado, 2nd district board members Mariant Escaņo Villegas, Melimore Saycon, Erwin Macias and Saleto Erames; 3rd district board members Roel de Gamo, Marcelo Adanza and Tijing. Newly-elected representative of the 3rd district, Henry Pryde Teves, was also declared winner while newly-elected representative of the 2nd district George Arnaiz, is scheduled later.

Emilio Macias II was proclaimed governor despite the absence of the votes from Bais City. Election officer Eddie Aba said the results in Bais will not affect the votes garnered by Macias against his opponent Sammy Torres. Meanwhile, the Association of Provincial Electric Cooperatives or APEC partylist won in Dumaguete City by garnering a total of 7,599 votes, followed by Buhay - 1,112 votes.

Agham, whose second nominee is Negrense Dr. Angel Alcala came in third with 1,100 votes; Akbayan - 1,013; Akapin-926; Sr. Citzen-837; Bayan Muna - 826; Coop-NATCO - 786; An-Waray - 727; and Gabriela 678 votes for the top 10 in Dumaguete.*JG
