More winners proclaimed

More candidates were proclaimed winners yesterday in six towns and one city in Negros Occidental, and more are set for proclamation today.

Shortly before midnight last night Eric Saratan was proclaimed the winning mayor of Talisay City with 25,042 votes over his rival Ramon Lacson with 15,043 votes. Proclaimed vice mayor was Niel Lizares III who was unopposed.

The winning councilors are Renel Garcia, Ma. Isabel Lizares, Jose Maria Astorga, Daniel Tribaco, Rafael Ignacio "Chino" Coscolluela, Remus Gulmatico, Gorgonio Treyes III, Felix Hiballes, Roberto Angolo and Alfonso Alontaga.

Saratan said he was very grateful to God for his blessings, and to the people of Talisay, especially the barangay captains, for their support.

MANAPLA

Proclaimed the winning mayor of Manapla was incumbent Manuel Escalante III and Edgar Pagayonan as vice mayor.

The winning Manapla councilors are Ramonito Abanales, Ma. Ceferina Amor Aguilar, Bobby Barrido, Anderson Don, Arlene Fanuga, James Hidalgo, Rodolfo Miraflores Jr. and Edilberto Vocal Jr.

CANDONI

In Candoni proclaimed winning mayor was Cicero Borromeo and Jimmy Tiaga as vice mayor.

The winning councilors are Privaldo Torre Sr., Rex Malacad, Dolores Tomol, Demetrio Catipunan, Rene Beton, Galicano Temporosa, Charlie Wong and Aminaldo Manzano.

ILOG

In Ilog unopposed Joyce Alvarez was proclaimed mayor along with Nelson Genito as vice mayor.

Winning councilors are Mark Vargas, Edmund Turk Vail, Ignacio Almaiz, Rey Cordova, Alvarado Valdesis, Rex Tipsay, Romar Cabral and Rene Bandolos.

ISABELA

In Isabela proclaimed mayor was Renato Malabor who ran unopposed and Ommar Garrido Gayares as vice mayor.

The winning councilors are Ma. Lourdes Nava, Francis Malabor, Francis Albert Uy, Rodolfo Trespeces, Barry Parcon, Milagros Belzunce, Francis Yulo and Martin Tan.

OTHER WINNERS

Other winners proclaimed yesterday were Magdaleno Pena as mayor and Tony Suatengco as vice mayor of Pulupandan, Laurence Marxlen dela Cruz - mayor and Cynthia dela Cruz - vice mayor of Don Salvador Benedicto town, John Rey Tabujara mayor of Cauayan. Also set to be proclaimed today are the winning candidates of Sagay City and several other areas in Negros Occidental.

The winning mayor of Sagay is Alfredo Maraņon with 30,579 votes over his opponent Raul Baterna with 857 votes.

To be proclaimed vice mayor is Leo Rafael Cueva who ran unopposed.

The winning councilors are James Tupas, Joseph Gerard Maraņon, Barbara Ann Tolentino, Victoria Uychiat, Kent Javelosa, Zaldy Bismar, Ian Christopher Escario, Beethoven Fuentesfina, Matthew Victor Gamboa and Samson Aņalucas.

Yesterday the Provincial Borard of Canvassers headed by Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez convened in Bacolod City and began the tally of returns from Candoni, Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto and San Enrique for the candidates for governor, vice governor, congressmen, board members and senators (Negros Count on page 3).
