Congressional candidate Olive Paras (Kampi) of the first district of Oriental Negros has sought to stop the proclamation of leading candidate Jocelyn Sy-Limkaichong (Lakas CMD).

Paras, the wife of incumbent Rep. Jacinto Paras and sister-in-law of fellow candidate Jerome Paras (Nacionalista), filed her Very Urgent Motion for Leave and to Suspend the Proclamation of Jocelyn Sy- Limkaichong as the winning congressional candidate of the 1st District of Negros Oriental, at the Provincial Commission on Elections Office, Tuesday night.

The motion was filed even before the Provincial Board of Canvassers could begin canvassing the votes in the province.

Cops arrest 2 for illegal
possession of firearms

Two persons were arrested in Tanjay City in Oriental Negros for violation of the Omnibus Election Code and illegal possession of firearms under Republic Act 8294.

Complainant Alfonso dela Cruz he reported to the police that he was threatened by the suspect who poked a gun at him.

Police initial investigation disclosed that the suspect, Egie Abrasaldo, of legal age, and resident of Barangay Cambagahan, Bais City had just attended the benefit dance in Sitio Naga, Barangay Sto. Niņo, in Tanjay when he met de la Cruz.

Habal-habal driver
pistol-whipped

A "habal-habal" driver was pistol-whipped and shot several times by motorcycle-riding men at a basketball court in Barangay Doldol, Bacong, Saturday, in Oriental Negros.

The police responded to a report by Vice Mayor Lenin Alviola through text message that, victim Rene Morales, 29, married, a habal-habal driver and resident of Doldol, Bacong was at the house of Barangay Captain Bernadino Alcoreza with multiple injuries.

Morales was immediately brought to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete.
