| Two persons were arrested in Tanjay City in Oriental Negros for
violation of the Omnibus Election Code and illegal possession of firearms under
Republic Act 8294. Complainant Alfonso dela Cruz he reported to the police
that he was threatened by the suspect who poked a gun at him. Police initial
investigation disclosed that the suspect, Egie Abrasaldo, of legal age, and resident
of Barangay Cambagahan, Bais City had just attended the benefit dance in Sitio
Naga, Barangay Sto. Niņo, in Tanjay when he met de la Cruz. Police said
that, without provocation, Abrasaldo suddenly drew his Magnum .22 Derringer revolver
at Alfonso who grabbed the gun. Abrasaldo who then escaped and the gun was turned
over to Cpl. Anthony Cabaluna, team leader of the 61st IB of the army, temporarily
assigned in Barangay Sto. Niņo Elementary School. The gun is now in the
custody of the Tanjay City Police and a criminal complaint is being prepared against
the suspect. Meanwhile, Ian Rojo, of legal age and resident of Tanjay was
charged with illegal possession of firearm and violation of the Omnibus Election
Code for bringing a firearm inside the poling place during the counting of ballots
at the Jose Rotea Memorial School, Barangay San Isidro, Tanjay City. Policemen
responded to a report from Macbeth Rubio, poll officer assigned in Jose Rotea
Memorial School that she had seen the armed Rojo in the area. The police
officers asked for back-up from barangay tanods and other private citizen in the
area. The police said, Rubio spotted something that resembled a gun, on
the ground near the stage which is in front of the main building of the school.
SPO4 Crispin Lacorte and SPO2 Nonieto Glodove found out that it was a
.45 caliber pistol with serial number 129835TUG, in a black holster with extra
magazines filled with live bullets. The police arrested Rojo who is now in their
