Kabankalan farmers
get certified seeds

Kabankalan City mayor Pedro Zayco Jr. and city agriculturist Nemesio Caņete distributed yesterday certified rice seeds from the Negros Occidental Accredited Seeds Growers to farmers from the different barangays.

In its press release, the city government said that farmers are assured of a bountiful harvest using the certified seeds.

Each bag of the seeds costs P 880 but farmers have only to pay half of the amount while the local government subsidizes the other half, the press release said.

The price paid by the farmers is again used by the local government to purchase more seeds for the other farmers to avail of the same privilege.

The city agriculture office is also scheduled to distribute 50 bags of hybrid yellow corn to farmers next week.* Kabankalan Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco Jr., right, distributes certified seeds to farmers.*
