Maraņon, Zayco
set to campaign

Gov. Joseph Maraņon yesterday said although he has no strong opponent and Vice Governor Isidro Zayco is running unopposed for the second time, they will both still go on the campaign trail.

Maraņon said perhaps no strong contender is running against him for the governorship because they have seen that the programs they have implemented have been felt by the people. We will be campaigning for the United Negros Alliance candidates and our senatorial bets, he said.

We will also be campaigning for our congressional candidates in the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth districts, he said.

Rep. Alfredo Maraņon III in the second district is not up against a serious contender, he said.

The governor's initial campaign sorties are set for Don Salvador Benedicto, San Carlos City, Calatrava, Toboso and Escalante on April 10, Sagay City, Cadiz City and Manapla on April 11 and Victorias City, EB Magalona and Talisay City on April 12. On former Rep. Julio Ledesma IV's statement that he does not bear ill-will for not being chosen the official candidate of the Nationalist People's Coalition for the first district of Negros Occidental, the governor said, "He is a good politician and I hope he says that with sincerity coming from his heart".

"We subscribe to the same idea, I do not harbor any ill-will against anybody," he said.*CPG
