Rotary golf-for-a-cause
tees off today

Silay-based Reynor Dominguez will shoot for back-to-back crowns in the Rotary 'Golf-for-a-Cause' tournament starting today at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City.

Dominguez emerged the surprise champion last year with 86 points under the Stableford scoring system.

The 2007 tournament, which will run until April 1, will mark the 10th year the event has been held. It is organized by the Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara.

The proceeds of the tournament will go to the Club's numerous medical missions each year.

Apart from the increasing number of local and overseas players taking part, the event has also attracted major sponsors including Coca-Cola, DHL and Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa, a press release from organizers said. A number of Rotary clubs in the UK and Australia are also supporting the event.

"The tournament is a vital part of our annual fund raising program", club president Robert Harland said. "It is always a terrific occasion, but most important, it raises much-needed funds which enables us to carry out our medical missions for indigents who normally would not be able to afford to see a doctor or buy medicines," Harland added. Players can sign up today at the Negros Golf and Country Club. Registration is pegged at P1,300 which covers 'gimmes' and two Mulligans as well as the awards night dinner.*
