The Philippine National Police has confirmed the sightings of at least 20 armed men Thursday, in Sitio Danawan, Barangay Manluminsag, La Libertad, Oriental Negros.

The police was alerted about the presence of the armed men believed to be members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples Army operating in the hinterlands of the first district.

La Libertad chief of police, Inspector Oscar Tan, and his operatives were immediately dispatched to track down the fatigue-wearing individuals reportedly with high-powered firearms.

Farmers in Valencia town, Oriental Negros, may now have access to the latest studies and results of researches on the latest farm products and technologies, through the farmer information center created recently by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development.

The Farmers Information Technology Services Center, located at the municipal agriculture office, will provide farmers reading materials on the latest in farm technologies and other researches made available through the internet, Valencia agriculture officer Rescil Vincoy said.

Valencia is the second municipality to become a Techno Pinoy Center in the province, after the Central Visayas Consortium for Integrated Regional Research Development.

Filing of charges
vs. Sison ordered
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

PNP chief Oscar Calderon has ordered the Task Force USIG to include self-exiled communist rebel leader Jose Maria Sison in the filing of ambush-slay charges against the New People's Army that claimed responsibility for the separate killings of seven civilians in La Libertad, and three more others in Guihulngan, all in Oriental Negros.

This was after Task Force USIG chief Geary Barias also directed the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office to expedite its investigation and filing of cases against the suspects.

Task Force USIG documents not only killings of activists and journalists, but also atrocities allegedly commited by the New People's Army.
